Meet Information for New Parents
Enter with the online entry form. Be sure to indicate which day(s) you are entering.
Confirm the entry with the entry report sent out by email.
Check the meet announcement for entry fee amount and pay FGAC by the last day of the meet. Make checks payable to: FGAC
Double check session times that apply to your swimmers. Plan to arrive at the facility with enough time to find our team area and prepare to swim before the start of warm-ups. Directions can be found on the PVS website.
Swimmers remain in the team area during the meet, except to visit parents between events. Swimmers must get permission to leave the team area and should keep time away to a minimum.
Swimmers may leave the meet once they have completed their individual events, unless they are scheduled to swim a relay thereafter. Swimmers must check with a coach before leaving.
Parents are not allowed on the pool deck during meets unless timing or officiating, or in the rare case of emergency. Championship level meets may even require a messenger to contact a coach.
Swimmers should come outfitted with a team suit, swim cap (if hair shoulder length or longer) and goggles. Having extra may be wise, as well as packing extra towels and dry clothing. Deck shoes can also go a long way to keeping swimmers warm, comfortable amd prepared.
Parents who wish to volunteer for timing or officiating should notify a marshall on the pool deck.
Swimmers are expected to be responsible for nutrition during the meet. With sessions often running 3-4 hours, it is important to plan ahead. Meet hosted snack sales rarely offer more than junk, with exception of a the usual bagel or bottled water.
Swimmers are expected to clean up after themselves and exhibit appropriate behavior during the meet, in the team area and in the facility.
