Open minds, mastering flight...
ONLINE REGISTRATION FORM Registration Information New Member Tip Sheet New Member Meet Info FGAC is divided into 5 levels. Our development plan revolves around the mastery of all four competitive strokes within five components of training: stroke mechanics, aerobic fitness, anaerobic threshold, race technique, and land-based training. These components are staged for balanced growth and steady improvement. Fundamental stroke mechanics and general aerobic fitness form the foundation at the younger ages. Advanced stroke technique, intensified aerobic training and active race technique are phased into the middle age groups. By the time our swimmers graduate to the senior level, they practice all components on a weekly basis, including a full compliment of core strength and Yoga based land training. We practice at Fairland Aquatic Center in Laurel, Maryland and operate within Potomac Valley Swimming, the local swim committee of USA Swimming. Our coaches are fully accredited and all swimmers are insured through membership. We presently employ 3 coaches and coordinate a handful of parent volunteer committees. We maintain a high level of service by keeping our roster manageable, the lines of communication open and our purpose clear. An interactive web site, monthly newsletter, and comprehensive team directory help to streamline the process. While competition is strongly encouraged, it is only required at Level 5. PROGRAM SCHEDULE Our annual program is divided into two seasons: Short Course and Long Course. Practices during the short course season are held at Fairland Aquatic Center in Laurel. Practices during the long course season are held at Fairland Aquatic Center and Linson Pool, an outdoor 50 meter pool in College Park. REGISTRATION FEE There is annual registration fee of $100 per swimmer to cover the cost of Potomac Valley/USA Swimming membership, an FGAC t-shirt and swim cap, and training equipment. PROGRAM FEE Program fees are paid by season or on an annual basis at a discount. The short course season may be paid in-full or by installment. Long course season may be paid in-full or split by spring and summer sessions. The annual plan also offers installments.
